Description of Nomadic Life tour

Price in USD

Arrival in Bishkek (the old name is Frunze), the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Transfer to Asia Mountains hotel. After rest transfer to Suusamyr valley along the mountainous road. We will pass trhough the mountainous tunnel and cross the Too Ashu pass (3586 meters). We will be accommodated in a simple family run accommodation. Dinner and overnight.

After breakfast in the family transfer to the Kyzart village from where we will start the trekking to Son-Kul lake, that is the second largest mountainous lake in the world on the altitude of 3015 meters above the sea level. Trekking to the foot of the Pass Jalgyz-Karagay (3300 m above sea level) to the place called Kilemche (4-5 hours). Dinner and  Overnight in yurta camp (2800 m above sea level).

Breakfast. Trekking over the Jalgyz-Karagay pass towars yurt camp (3-4 hours). You will meet local shepherds on the way. Arrival on the mountain lake Song-Kul which is located on the altitude of 3015 m. Local people live and graze their livestock on the meadows (jailoo) around the lake, from June till September. You will taste the wilderness and freedom of nomadic life here. It will be possible to taste the Kyrgyz traditional drink kymyz (fermented mare’s milk). 

Together with the cook of the yurt camp we will cook the traditional Kyrgyz bread called boorsoks.  Overnight in the yurta camp (3015 m above sea level).

Breakfast. Transfer to Kochkor. A visit to felt workshop, local women produce the goods of felt here. We can take part in the process.  Transfer to the southern shore of Issyk-Kul lake, that is the second largest mountainous lake in the world on the altitude of 1607 meters above the sea level.  A visit to Kyzyl Tuu village, here we will see how the wooden parts of the yurts are made. Optionally eagle hunting. Dinner and accommodation in the yurts.

After breakfast transfer to Svetlaya Polyana, from here we will have a like trek to Jety-Oguze gorge. We will enjoy the beautiful mountain views and fresh air. Upon arrival to Jety Oguz yurt camp, dinner in the yurt. After the dinner we can seat at the fire place organized on the shore oft he river and contest in song competition called Yr Kese. Overnight in the yurt.

After breakfast transfer to Karakol. Every Sunday there is a Sunday animal market in Karakol, if today is Sunday we should leave Jety Oguz without breakfast at 6 a.m. to visit the market, as it starts working from 4 a.m. After the visit of the market we can have breakfast in the local family. Then a city tour of Karakol with visiting Russian Orthodox Church made of wood, Muslim Mosque in Chinese Style. Later transfer to Tamchi along the northern shore of Issyk-Kul lake. On the way a visit to Open Air Museum of Petrogliphs in Cholpon-Ata. Upon arrival to Tamchi dinner and overnight in the family.

After breakfast transfer to Bishkek. On the way stop near Tokmok town to visit Burana Tower and the ruins of Balasagun city. Excursion. Upon arrival to Bishkek free time till dinner. Farewell dinner in the local restaurant. Ovenright in the hotel.

After breakfast transfer to airport for the flight home.

  2. Four people accommodation in yurts in Song-Kul, Kilemche, Tosor, Jety Oguz.
  3. Double room accommodation  in the family in Kochkor, Kyzyl-Oi, Tamchy(shared toilet and shower)
  4. Three time meal from the breakfast in Day 1  till breakfast in Day 8;
  5. Mineral water during the tour (one litter a day per person);
  6. English/French speaking tour guide;
  7. Entry fees to museums;
  8. Felt carpets show in Kochkor village.

The price of the tour does not include the cost of international and domestic flight tickets. But if you want, we can organize international flight tickets with TURKISH AIRLINES via Istanbul, AIR ASTANA via Nur-Sultan or AEROFLOT via Moscow.
